Apple has unveiled two new MacBook laptops that promise the company's longest ever battery life, the first to feature its in-house computer processors.

At the company's "One More Thing" event, its fourth virtual showcase of the year, it showed off the first Mac computers featuring the company's own "M1" chip, which promises both better performance and lower power consumption.

The 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will have up to twice the battery life of previous models, which used Intel chips, while staying at the same £999 and £1,299 price.

The company also said they would be significantly faster than rivals that run the Windows operating system, thanks to an integration between hardware and Apple's own software.

Apple also announced a new Mac Mini, its small desktop computer, saying it would be up to five times faster than similarly-priced PC rivals.
